Entrepreneurs from the Moscow Region were told how to protect their money from phone scams
Phone scammers do not stand still and come up with new criminal schemes.
According to experts, about 40% of such crimes are committed through messengers. Veronika Polyakova, a lawyer at the Moscow Region Chamber of Advocates, specializing in economic and official crimes, told entrepreneurs of the Moscow Region at a training webinar how to protect themselves and their data.
According to the speaker, a quarter of all criminal cases in Russia are related to fraudulent activities. The most common of which are telephone and digital using the Internet. She told the audience in detail about such types of scams as phishing, lookalike sites, fake voice calls from people you know. She also mentioned recently appeared new types of deception, such as fake calls "from the courts", from the centers "My business".
The expert gave recommendations on how to protect yourself and not fall for the tricks of intruders. For example, using two-factor identification on the Public Services portal, installing a suspicious call recognizer on a mobile phone, restrictions on incoming calls (access to calls exclusively from contacts available on your phone). Veronika Polyakova noted the importance of monitoring news reports about new types of fraud.
